TOWING APPLICATIONS
Our custom built torque converters will withstand the stress
of towing a heavy trailer or RV. A weak torque converter ultimately results in
transmission problems in towing applications. Component failure is often a
result of high transmission fluid temperatures and overloading which will
eventually lead to transmission slippage, start-up shudder, and/or shudder when
climbing a hill. Factory-installed torque converters do not have a billet cover
which is essential to resist external torsion and thrust stresses, and the
internal hydraulic pressure created within the torque converter. When
rebuilding a factory-installed converters used for heavy hauling, we find
broken fins and worn bearings and seals. When this deterioration occurs in
the torque converter, your truck will continue to lose power and the ability to pull heavy loads
efficiently.
Improve the drivability and durability of your truck.
We use a billet cover, hand braze the fins to ensure their integrity, and
replace bearings and seals. With these changes you will see an
immediate improvement in acceleration when pulling a heavy load.
Billet covers are available for both diesel and gas
applications. We can change your stall speed to optimize the 0-30 mph speed range
when pulling heavy loads.
Gas applications require a torque converter built with higher stalls.
We can raise the stall of your converter to meet the needs of your engine and
transmission to improve acceleration when hauling a heavy load.
Diesel applications require a lower stall speed. A diesel engine is a
torque engine. It has immediate power. There is no waiting around
for your engine to reach the rpm it takes a gas engine to begin pulling your
load.
